Vietnam Gold Business Association Congress for the Fifth Term
On December 9, 2024, the Congress of the Vietnam Gold Business Association for the Fifth Term was held with the participation of high-ranking representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the State Bank of Vietnam, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and the World Gold Council. This significant event marks a new transition for the Association, with a mission to steer the sustainable and healthy development of Vietnam’s gold business sector.
The Congress recognized and awarded Certificates of Merit from the President of the Association to the Executive Committee and outstanding individuals of the Fourth Term (2019–2024) for their contributions.
Discussions at the Congress led to the approval of critical documents, including the activity summary report of the Fourth Term and strategic directions for the Fifth Term. The remarkable achievements of the previous term were highly appreciated, while existing challenges were thoroughly reviewed to identify effective solutions.
During the Congress, the Executive Committee conducted elections for the new leadership team, earning strong confidence from participants. Mr. Đinh Nho Bảng was elected as the President of the Association, marking continuity and innovation in leadership. Additionally, Mrs. Bùi Thị Thúy Nga, CEO of DC New Technology Joint Stock Company, was elected as Vice President, bringing diversity and dynamism to the leadership team.
Key Commitments and Strategic Focus for the Fifth Term
In the new term, the Vietnam Gold Business Association commits to focusing on several core tasks to promote comprehensive development within the sector. The Association will work closely with the State Bank of Vietnam and relevant ministries to contribute to the development and refinement of regulatory frameworks. Feedback from the Association will serve as a critical reference to ensure policies align with practical needs, helping businesses overcome challenges and seize new opportunities.
The Association particularly emphasized the importance of amending Decree 24/2012/ND-CP on gold business management. This strategic move aims to enhance and expand the competitiveness of the domestic gold market. Such adjustments are expected to create favorable conditions for a sustainable and healthy gold market while advancing deeper international economic integration.
Furthermore, the Congress introduced several key proposals to support the sector's long-term development. Prioritizing transparency and sustainability in the supply chain, the Association called for clearer regulations on the origins of imported and exported precious metals.
Simultaneously, the Association launched a development plan for the jewelry industry for the 2025–2029 period. This plan focuses on improving product quality and crafting techniques, aiming to establish a distinct Vietnamese jewelry brand in international markets, creating unique imprints, and increasing export value.
